I enjoy the RC car thing and have been interested in getting into Helis but haven’t had the time or funds for it.

I used to have a Venom nightranger 2... a long time ago. It always needed something to be fixed after I flew it :)

I’ll just stick to rock crawling.

oooh, I keep wanting to get a three-blade ‘copter... but then again I haven’t flown what I have in a while because I’ ve been too damn busy when the weather is nice :P I did manage to fly some fixed-wing this summer, but the helis are collecting dust :(

a friend in high school used to (probably still does) fly those. In drafting class he designed his own plane and got the school to cover the cost of servos n shit. HE built the thing out of balsa wood and actually flew it. Now he works for Boeing or something.

I’ve got a lot of helis, and have had a smaller 3 blade (Goblin 570) a couple years ago. I did t really like how the 570 flew on 3 blades so I converted it to 2 and loved the heli after that. Then they announced  this one a couple months ago and started preorders. I couldn’t resist that paint scheme, and I’ve been told the 700 size is much better as a 3 blade than the smaller ones. Something about blade design and such. We’ll see, I hope to fly it tomorrow.

There are a number of us who fly various things. Currently airworthy in my hangar are a DJI Phantom, a couple of Flite Test Explorers , and a Blade mSR. I started out many years ago building balsa and monocote gliders. It’s a great way to get started in fixed-wing flight since t he speeds are low, you build it yourself so you know how it goes together, and you learn how to land - there’s no choice because there’s no chance to go around.

I think the small quads are too easy to fly, so there’s not much of a challenge. “Drone” pilots don’t really get it. They don’t have to think very hard to put something into the air and control it.

After years of R/C  flight, I’m finally working on my private pilot certificate.

I went through a very expensive, very short phase with RC helis. I really enjoyed building them, and was really good at crashing them. Luckily I didn’t get into the gas powered ones.
